About the cottage

Garden Cottage offers self-catering accommodation for two people. It is situated in a conservation area behind the owners Grade 2 listed building in the heart of historic Much Wenlock. Originally an outbuilding, the cottage has several steps to both the main entrance and to its courtyard garden. It has been converted to make it as accessible as possible within the existing limitations of the site.


Arrival and car parking facilities

There is one car parking space for the cottage. Access is via a level gravel drive alongside the owner’s home.
The cottage is approached across 4 metres of gravel drive then 15 metres of level brick paving.
There are free standing pots and planters on the right of the paved area as you approach the cottage.
We are happy to help with bags and luggage and to give you a conducted tour of the cottage to familiarise you with its layout.


Main entrance

The entrance has four steps 80cm ( 31”) wide.
Three steps are 18cm (7”) high and 35cm (13½”) deep.
The top step is 25cm (10”) high.
The door leads into a brick tiled entrance hall.
At the end of the entrance hall there is a door to the right leading into the cottage and a door to the left leading to steps to the courtyard garden.
There are loose doormats at each of the doors.


Ground floor

Open plan with sitting, dining and kitchen areas.
There is a smooth laminate floor throughout with a large loose rug in the sitting area.
One double sofa and one easy chair, both have arms and are non feather.
There are removable feather scatter cushions.
Furniture is movable.
Remote TV/DVD controls.
Décor is generally light and neutral.
There is bright halogen lighting throughout with additional lamps.


Kitchen area

Fully fitted U-shaped kitchen. Units are 92cm (3’) high with wall cupboards above.
Electric oven with drop down door and flush glass electric hob.
Light laminate floor, mid tone units, dark tone worktop.
The kitchen is well lit with LED ceiling lights and additional strip lighting beneath the wall units.
There is an automatic washer/dryer and a fridge with ice-making compartment.
Free standing microwave and toaster on worktop.
There is one flight of stairs with a right hand turn after six steps.
There is a hand rail to the right as far as the turn then a post and spindles providing a hand hold after the turn.
The stairs landing and bedroom have a light neutral fitted carpet.


Bedroom

Cottage style room with sloping ceilings and a deep dormer window.
One bedroom with king size bed. Height to the top of the mattress is 50cm (20”).
Non feather duvet and pillows provided. Bed linen is polyester cotton.
TV/DVD with remote control.
Small loose rug at the foot of the bed.


Landing

Sloping ceiling with one deep dormer window, dressing table and wardrobe.
There is a flatweave rug.


Bathroom

The bathroom is compact with a standard bath, corner WC and washbasin.
It has a sloping ceiling and Velux roof light.
Bath is double ended and 57cm (22½”) high with a shower tap half way along its length.
There is a grab rail fitted to the wall half way along the long side of the bath.
A non-slip rubber bathmat is provided.
The WC has a heated towel rail to the right and a glass shelf to the left.
Flooring is light laminate.
The décor is light with white sanitary ware and tiles.


Outside

The cottage has its own private patio garden approached through the entrance hall.
The door opens onto a wooden platform with six steps and a hand rail on the right hand side.
The patio is paved with sandstone flags which have a slightly uneven riven surface.
There is a round metal mesh patio table and two matching armchairs.
Dustbin is located beneath the wooden steps and can be pulled out on wheels.
Recycling boxes for paper/cardboard and tins/glass are next to the dustbin.
 


Additional Information

There are two hard wired smoke alarms; one downstairs and one on the landing.
CO2 detector in the sitting room. Fire blanket in the kitchen.
